Like many people during the last few months, the daily routine we all got so used to was completely turned on its head. I went from 12 hours a day out of the house at work, to spending all of my time at home. To juggling working from home, our 2 year old and trying my best to help Elly who is pregnant with our second child (due any day!).
After the initial couple of weeks of not leaving the house, my body clock was still set to my early wake up alarm for work, so I started heading out with my camera and taking photographs of my local area. Scenes I would have previously walk past unnoticed were suddenly grabbing my attention, and I have ended up with a set of images I am quite happy with. I feel a real sense of emptiness when looking at these places which would otherwise be quite busy. Whether it is the way I felt at the time of taking the pictures and the quietness around our area in the depth of the lockdown measures or if it does come through in the pictures, that is not for me to say… With restrictions being lifted everyday (at least it feels like that), these pictures already seem like a lifetime ago.
Images are all taken between 6-8am within a 5 mile radius of our home, using a mixture of medium format film and digital.
