DefencesFlood defences have been present on the Wirral’s coast line since 1829. The revetment between Leasowe and Meols was first constructed in 1923 and reconstructed in 1983. Some see the defences as a blight on our natural shore line, but as much of Britain’s coast is diminishing fast, the Wirral is well protected.
